Alisha entered into the National PTA Reflections art contest and received Honorable Mention at the District level. The theme was "Together We Can" and her drawing of "The Health Tree" portrayed various scenes at the hospital where she is both the patient and someone who is trying to cheer up another child. Her idea was that everyone such as the doctors, nurses, volunteers, children are all working together to help patients feel better emotionally, mentally and physically. The gold ribbons symbolizes Childhood Cancer Awareness.
We were all very proud and especially proud to hear many adults who walk by to see her drawing say that First place should have been her. You can be the judge - First place went to the drawing with the hand shake and Second place went to the ones watering a plant. Nonetheless, she was also recognized by her teacher and the principal at her elementary school for being the only student selected to represent the school in Reflections.
